Hi,

My partner bought me a 1997 Range Rover P38 4.6HSE Auto with a Zavoli LPG System fitted for my birthday:)

The problem now is that it's started over heating:crutch:

I've replaced the following:

  • Thermostat
  • Water Pump
  • Fan Coupling
  • Header Tank Cap
With no evail, I've asked various garages on the Isle of Wight, and there are not many that will touch a V8 never mind one with a LPG system fitted.

So, far I've been quoted a minimum of £1100 for a rebuild.

My Question to you fellow L.Rover 4x4, is that now I thinking of swapping engines for a Chevy 5.7ltr V8.

Has anyone done this fitment before? Does anyone know of any good websited that can help me? Is it a wise decision or should I just rebuild the V8?

The car has had alot of money spent on it from the previous owner like:

  • Full Stainless Steel Exhaust with Large Bore Exhaust
  • 23" Alloy Wheels with New Rubber Boots
  • Tinted Windows all Round
  • Rear Tailgate Spoiler
  • Every Electrical Item Works including:
  • Air Suspension
  • Heated Electric Seats
  • Sunroof
  • Alarm System
  • Original Radio and CD Multi Changer with Steering Wheel Controls
  • Air Conditioning with Climate Control

Your opinions would be greatfull.:)

Thanks

Paul

Have you checked the air bleed pipe and needle?

Top right of the radiator to the header tank, needle is moulded into the header tank and may need a compressed air line to clear if blocked.

Hi Listerdiesel,

Have had a look at the pipe running from the radiator to the header tank, when you rev the car to 2000 to 2500 rpm there is a steady stream comming through.

So, I guess its a engine swap or rebuild.
