Hello everyone

I'm still new to all this Landrovering and would really appreciate your suggestions to a new problem.

My SIII petrol is overheating during normal use, when it gets hot it cuts out and doesn't re-start until cooled down!
It also stalls under heavy breaking and seems to flood as it refuses to start for 10 mins or more.

It fires up first time when cold and sounds pretty good, all the problems start when it gets hot.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve

I had a similar issue with my series 1 a couple months back and after numerous different attempts of flushing the water system and getting the radiator pressure tested it ended up being my thermostat not opening correctly and not alloowing the water to pass through efficiently making the engine overheat.

It could also be that your water pump isnt working right or worst cae a blown head gasket from the overheating.

Hope this helps

I would start by replacing the thermostat (less than £10 from padds etc)
Check that the choke is going off. This time of year you should only need about 1/4 choke to start in the morning.
Also check your carb is set correctly and if you havent? service you ignition.
Point,Plugs,coil,condenser and leads etc.

Ps
Like Lanark says the over heating could be a whole host of stuff.
