Holiday horrors
On holiday with wife and kids and about to drive from Devon to Dorset
2 days ago noticed the transmission level was very low, and bought a bottle to top it up (came with a pipe to add via level check tube)
Was driven yesterday before I had chance to check the levels. (No problems)
Today I check the levels and its WAYYYY past the second marker, and I know it can cause foaming and damage to seals and transmission.
How do I drain it? (stuck on campsite with the most basic of tools)

If you have a spanner .........slacken off the trans oil cooler pipe and let some drain off , then tighten ..........then run engine and check level ...........only a small amount will run out so do this a few times untill you're happy with the oil level

Can you not ring around the kwik fit, halfords places and ask if they can suck it out.

Cheers

Guessing an auto, undo sump plug so it weeps at a controlled rate, constant checks so you dont go the other way

Gearbox drain plug, undo it slowly, let it dribble slowly while you're monitoring level.

Local garage has said they will fit us in. Thanks for your responses guys. Feel a proper tit :/

If this is an auto and you checked level after being stood overnight without engine running, it will always show overfull until engine is running and fluid has circulated through system.
