Hi Guys,

I have replaced the Rear Output Shaft oil seal on my 1983 Series 3, it's the first time I have done this job.
My problem is , when I try to replace the flange the splines will not fit . They will go in a small way , connect, then
meet resistance and start to jam if any force is tried.
Both sets of splines look ok with no damage. I have tried wigglying the flange while pushing, turned it to different positions but
nothing helps.
.
When I removed the flange I had to use a screwdriver to lever it loose, then it pulled off nortmally.
Any help will be much apprecated.

Hi, It worked, thanks again. I was nervous about getting heavy handed with it,
but it was the only way it seems.
Cheers !

Good, do you have the felt/rubber washer fitted?
I have a new felt/rubber washer,
i only had time to fit the flange today, I will fit it , the steel washer & big nut tomorrow, weather permitting.
I suspect the felt washer is fiddly to fit, should it be soaked in oil first ?
