The rear ash tray, switch pack cover, radio/HVAC and center console plastics on Duchess are sticky and horrible. I can scrape black gunge off with my fingernail. A mate says it's paint gone bad which he has seen a lot on other cars, I've tried various chemicals to try and remove it, thinners melted the plastic a bit:eek:.
I'm going to have to remove the lot at some point so delicate electrical stuff doesn't get fried.
Googling brings up a couple of peeps with the same issues, seems to be later models only.
The bit I did clean reasonably successfully looks 'not right':(
Thinking of cleaning them up and respraying (they are dark gray) or maybe getting them wrapped but I know nowt about that.
Anybody had the same?

They can be sanded and painted quite successfully.

Use the paint for plastic. A guy recently did some on his l322 here, looked good.

That was me...although I didn't post no pics!!!o_O;)

...and I 'deliberately' removed the entire console when I didn't need to, just to see how it all worked.:eek::(:mad::mad::mad:

If the plastic is starting to decay/rot, any paint will eventually come off too?
No it's hard underneath the waxy stuff.
I've been looking at DIY vinyl wrapping vids on YouTube but they show relatively easy shapes and there's lots of button/switch recesses on Duchess, not to be attempted at a first go I don't think so paint it is.
Satin black? Matt ...dunno, gloss...tacky.:cool::D
It's practically black interior very very dark grey. So satin black would be swish methinks.:cool:

Has anyone seen that stick on 'wood' for p38's? UK made iirc.
A bit 'much'?
Not real wood, laser cut lino or similar.
