Good evening,

My name is Alex and I am apart of a team of three Royal Navy sailors who are embarking on an expedition, driving from Morocco to South Africa over a 45 day long timespan for our charities Help for Heroes and REORG.

The reason for my message today is because we are looking to find somebody willing to bless us with a reliable 4x4 to enable us to embark on this journey. We have a space available for the individual who may be interested and we would be delighted to take them onboard this journey.

The attached file is an introduction to the expedition and will give you a brief overview. This was used as past correspondence internally.

If anybody would be interested and would like more information about it, please do not hesitate to contact me on:

opafrica.royalnavy@gmail.com

Kind regards,
Alexander

If Ineos Grenadier is your vehicle sponsor as per your flyer then surely you're sorted? This sounds extremely suspicious to me. If you Google it there isn't a single hit which is odd if it's being supported by the Royal Navy.

Just looked at the distance

Quoted

Start: Marrakesh, Morocco
Finish: Cape Town, South Africa
Distance: 11,651.4 km. divided by 45 x days equals 258.92 km per day

Indeed also hate to be suspicious, That’s what I thought unless there looking for a free support vehicle

Likewise in not getting any hits on Google

Cutting Edge INEOS GRENADIER...... PIONEERING TRIP facing the elements............. taking all the press and glory, supported by a 30 year old Defender 110 that doesn't skip a beat.

Strongly suspect they will fly back and whomever volunteered the vehicle can pick it up from Jo'Berg

the distance looks about right depending on the actual route and any detours.
the grenadier is unconfirmed, theres no specific charity, or data on who will be providing the education. how will the £20k be spent?
support vehicles? repairs?

Or you get mugged the first night out of Marrakesh and never see your Land Rover again.

Sorry, am I sounding a bit cynical today?

Over 7000 miles without breaking down. His only option is a Freelander then. And a tow rope for the support tratter when it breaks down regular.

Problem is its not the best idea to travel across certain countries in an iconically british vehicle. Africa ain't always the safest of places.

If we take a typical monthy wage of 2k sovs, the person who 'blesses' them with their family car needs 6 weeks oft work with a loss of 3k sovs wages to go on the trip. Then there's risk of damage to the car and insuring it. Not to mention boarder crossings where you may be requested to 'bless' yer vehicle to someone with a gun who's a dodgy gov official. Then there's the small issue of getting yer car to Africa and back. Could yer not pick somewhere closer thats just as hostile like Scotland?

As for charity its far from Challenge Anneka. I'm out, if yer finking of asking.
