Wish I'd never removed the plastic sill trim and prodded it with a screwdriver!
Think I'll be busy this weekend.
Just old age or do those plastic trims do it no justice?

Would love to do the box section but mot is due in about a week. I'd never get it done plus I use it for work each day.
I've already done the other side and replaced the boot floor!

Here's some of the boot floor

Even had to make a new fuel tank inspection cover.
Hope you like.

Its the post Aug '89 steel LR used.

Well documented to be contaminated from new, so it rots from the inside out. and under the paint!

I've not heard that one. Are you having me on?
I was thinking it ain't done too bad being a 95
How many other 1995 cars are still about.
Escort?

Nope not having you on.

After August 1989 LR started using a 16 gauge steel which was known to be contaminated from factory.

Which of course made the post 89 RRC and Disco rot like a fury.

My RRC is reg jul 89 and was nearly as bad as that, apart from having the ali boot floor. Its a shame whoever did the previous patches didnt just replace the sills then, it probably needed it

Well! You learn something new each day!
Thanks for the info

I agree. It's also a shame I'm not going to do it.
If I had my way I'd do the lot. Including the inner arches, outer arches, new sills.
But it would have to be of the road for that.
My biggest bug is the rust coming back 6 months after I've painted!

Looking at those sills the rust is coming through some previous repair patches from the inside.
Always a good idead to get some waxoyl up inside after repairs or the rust will always return.

Yep. But they are not my patches.
I've had it 2½ years now. Looking at it the rust has taken hold inside so waxoyl won't stop it. I'll just plate it for now as I need it for work.
Needs must in afraid - speedo stopped working today too
New speed sensor I believe.

Oh look, someone else suffering my plight in life :)

Get it through the MOT, take a weeks holiday off work and slap some box in there, trust me, it will pay you back in a couple of years time when you don't have to do it again.

Well. I started with the angle grinder and the whole bottom is gone plus some of the side where the fold is.
So I'm going to get some box for it and try and get it done in the evenings around work.
Width is 60mm but some are using 100 which is in keeping with original but I've seen some mention 120mm x 60mm
And difference?
Also, what's the crack with the body mount bolt. I know when I cut it off the bolt will come out but how the hell would you replace it?
£30 good for 1500 x 100 x 60 delivered?

I used the 100mm on mine, like you say it's a match. I think others used 120 due to availability. body mount bolt just refit from underneath rather than above. Cant comment on the price of the box, I don't remember where I got mine or how much it was. Worth checking ebay and metals4u etc

Picked up this today. But of over engineering but I'm sure it will last.
120 x 60 1500mm for £25
Can't be bad. It's just what they had laying around. It's 5mm thick!
Get started on it soon

Dur - forgot the picture

Just waiting on two body mount brackets to be delivered now.
