Had to change the water hose from the thermostat to water pump today.
Should have been simple enough i thought
Whip the rad shroud off top, take fan off with new ebay fan spanner, then its easy access to the hose and clips.
Wrong !
New fan spanner rounds off in seconds
Then the long nose punch i should have in my tool box has gone a.w.o.l, so no taking the fan off !
With a lot struggling i got the upper jubilee clip undone, pop the bottom clip off.
Then tried to just drain the anti freeze into a container direct from said hose, rather that drain all from rad.Result was 80% in old washing up bowl, and 20% down my armpit and all over my chest :(
Getting the new Britpart hose on,was as easy as shoving a pumpkin where the sun dont shine.
I pre soaked the new hose in very hot water to make it supple.
The water pump side was tough with little access, but the thermostat side was so tight to go on,it was a shade to small really.
I had to keep heating the hose with a old hair drier (whilst upside down on wet ground and soaking in anti freeze ! ) whilst edging it down a few mm's at a time
Best part of 2 hours went by,before i was ready to re fill with more anti freeze.
Good job i replaced the old hose though,it was so weakened and thin i think i could tear it apart with my hands
The reason i replaced it was when engine warmed up the hose was swelling enough to rub on the alternator/power steering belt.
Glad i spotted it before having an rac moment ;)
Hope your day went better :D

Hey it coulda bin worse. You coulda forgotten the jubilee clip, wrestled the pipe on as you did and then had to take it off and do it again! :p

Good job though, well done! :clap2:

I was refitting the engine into car so now how cold it was still at least you had antifreeze on :D sounds like a good job well done in the end

I changed that very hose in the dark with only the headlights from my other car, what a nightmare. As you say the britpart hose dont fit too good.
