Evening Gents
Whilst in the back of my disco 1 I found a couple of capped off wires.
Testing the purple and brown one i have found it's permanent live. What would this have been used for? There is also another purple and brown wire in the back but that's for the interior light.
The permanent live wire is quite heavy gauge would I be able to tap into it for a 12v socket for my fridge?

I have read somewhere it could for electric breaks on a trailer... can anyone shed any light on this?

As u correctly state there's a permanent live wire spare at the rear of the offside rear light.

It's just a 12v 20amp permanent live Aux supply for any use, even a fridge :D
Connect it through a relay with an IGN switched supply and U have a switched Aux supply.

what would the wires be originally used for? A trailer like I mentioned ?

What would the green and orange wire be for,
Is it the earth for that circuit?
Also where is the fuse located, under the dash or under the bonnet?

Earth is always black, the GO wire is probably for trailer brake lights, fuse for the permannent live is F6 (20 Amp) in Satellite Fuse Box 2 (under the facia),

Just to give you a complete answer, no probably or maybe's :)... the green /orange wire your interested in is 12v to supply to a trailer equipped with reverse lights.

Also may need to be mindful the although the other wire you mention a purple/brown wire, the source is fused at 20amp and that other circuits also share the same fuse

Looking at that wiring diagram is it a trailer auxiliary socket. Fuse located in satellite fuse box 2?
I'm going to be adding a couple of usb sockets and a cigarette lighter socket. Do I need a relay if I put a 10amp inline fuse in before the switch for the accessories?

Does make you wonder if they were ever going to use it as an aux socket connection, like in the D2, one of the most useful things on the D2 and yes we use ours for a fridge!
In fact if you got an aux socket for a D2 you may well be able to fit it in a similar place, although I have a 5 seater, things may be just a bit different in a 7 seater, dunno about them!

Very similar to the positioning on the D2, except the standard one on mine faces inwards, which is a bit cr@p as you have to continuously be careful you don't catch any plug as you shove stuff in and out the boot!
But if you had a side pannier there you'd have to reposition it or put up with lifting up the lid and wires going everywhere.

It all looks very neat and can also be whipped out as and when you need to. Great!
I'll see if i can find pics of the back of my D2 so you can see how we pack to go to France for 6 months!
As you can see the shelf is mad from one thick piece of ply cut to shape and split so it can, just, be manoeuvred in through the back.
It rests against the dog-guard securing points and the load bay cover clips.
It rests on the side paniers where i keep my tools so that if i need to get at them during the journey I don't need to struggle too much and it gives enough clearance for the coolbox to allow air to circulate both in and out.
You can see where the aux plug comes in useful and also how you have to be careful with it.
But the Disco 2 boot is a bit bigger which makes it poss to take even more of the collapsible crates thaan we could in the Disco 1. And gives us room to spare for other stuff. there is just room to pack two crates side by side transversally on the shelf. And yes it is a genuine LR dog guard, we have three cockers, hence the genuine LR mats and covers (Came with the car!)
