Good day all.

At some point soon i will replace my springs,shock and change out all the nuts bolts etc.

My question is has any one gone from stock genuine land rover springs and shocks to old man emu springs n shocks on a 110?

What did you think?

Im a big believer in fitting genuine where possible and im wondering if fitting none genuine is actually worth it?

My landy will have a roof top tent and all the camping gear in the back so a fair bit of weight in the back. overloading green lanes no extreme offloading.

Im not looking for a 2 inch life i like the stock hight.

My advice would be to fit the rear springs from the TD5 model, and whatever the fronts are for the model. I would also advise fitting britpart, but I have no experience with OME gear, so can’t comment on them.

Use this to work out what part number you should order.

I've ran the OME heavy duty on my last 110 CSW for travelling around Europe with roof tent, bikes and surfboards, Heavy duty was overkill to be honest as i don't think we had enough load to warrant it.

Highly rate them to be honest anyway, but i'll be buying light duty for my defender now.

I will not fit mechanical britpart components to my landy.

My 110 has been using a britpart lift pump for around 18-24 months, no issue. Rear springs and shocks for over 2 years, no issues, just fitted front springs and shocks, and some ball joints.

I’m not telling you how to spend your money, but spending more on an item because of its name is silly.
 
Genuine suspension parts look expensive until you consider that the springs will last hundreds of thousands of miles. Armstrong are OE for dampers and can be bought very reasonably (I paid ~£35 for a pair of rear ones last week). The Metalastik bushes are best bought from Land Rover in my experience and while they are much more expensive than the crap that Britpart sell, they will outperform them hugely.
 
Changed to BP springs and Terrafirma big bore dampers a few yers ago when the OEM stuff was a bit tired.
Don't carry massive loads but often have 3 kayaks, 5 surfboards etc on roof, see avatar. The newer set up
has made the handling much less flappy.
 
I've got OEM springs ( via Br*tpart ), and terrafirma shockers on my D1 - springs fine, shockers are not to my taste....:mad:

SWMBO has OEM springs and BP shockers on her D1, and the ride is better :) .... so, when I CBA, the TF's on mine will be gone :)

( and yes, because neither of us could believe it, I swapped the wheels/tyres over too ..... same conclusion :rolleyes: ).
 
Britpart springs & shocks are very good and I have no hesitation in recommending them.

Had Bearmach springs in the past and while they functioned ok the paint finish was terrible and just didn't stay on the metal.
