Today has been spent on my td5 and I've loved it.
I have had a problem with my auto box not moving or changing as it should so today I changed the gear oil and filter ( with help from this forum ) and it seems to of improved . It goes as soon as you put it in gear and seems to change as it should. But it still seems to be slow on accelaration . I haven't had it long . i bought it with the fault and I have never driven it without the fault so I'm struggling as Ihave nothing to compare it too.my old discovery 4 was obviously much quicker. It goes better if you really boot it but I'm not sure that's the way.
If anyone local to me ( whitworth nr Rochdale ) fancy's a drive to see what they think please feel free. Or if anyone has any ideas?
Thanks

A number of random thoughts:

1. Have you replaced all filters and all fluids yet? If not you've not yet created a baseline to judge the car from;

2. The std Torque Converter on the TD5 auto is not the optimum one for the car and as a result lots of power is lost with the revs spilling over in stead of driving the vehicle forwards. A Modified TC improves this substantially;

3. Check that the MAP & MAF are working correctly or you'll never know if the engine is working to it's optimum;

4. A remap, De-EGR, De-Cat package transforms the driveability.

So you can see there are stages of improvements, you just need to decide how much improvement you need.

A standard D2 auto is going to feel pretty weak after a D4 that has almost double the power and torque of the Td5 ,as said above check it's all working as it should be then perhaps upgrade as necessary, good news that your oil change has helped though.

Ok thank you for that it gives me something to work towards.
I intend to do all of the fluids over the next week.it's also due an mot so that's on the card for next week also.
When I got this td5 I was only going to keep it for the winter but I think I love her. So I'm going to make her the best td5 I can ( Money permitting )
Should I do another gearbox fluid change after running her for a week or so?
Once again thanks for the help and support:)

I would do the oil again after a few hundred miles,wouldn't bother with the filter next time though.
