Hello, would anyone know why the oil pressure light comes on when I brake in my 1974 series 3?
The oil level's fine and it only comes on for a few seconds.
A friend who's Dad's an expert in old landies reckons that it's a sludged up oil filter. Has anyone had the same problem.
(It's having a major service tomorrow, so we'll see if the theory's right).

could be.
also maybe a faulty baffle in the sump. not enough oil. or a faulty sensor.
has it got the correct dipstick?

It says in the original manual that it is OK for the oil pressure light to come on at tickover, as long as it goes out when revved.

Cheers folks, I feel more encouraged now :D
However, just took it to the garage and explained what I wanted doing and they were most unhelpful.
I can see I'm going to have to get to know my way around a set of spanners.
BTW, what's the best to get, AF or whitworth, (I've only got metric)?

Changed the oil and filter myself yesterday and it's running brilliantly - no oil light whatsoever.
A mate also gave me a load of redundant sockets which fit perfectly, so no tool probs now, (phnar, phnar!).
Next thing is the MOT........................
