Hi guys , amongst other problems im having on a daily basis my 90 with 300 engine with rr autobox has a oil leak which will kill the new block paving & eventually cause a divorce if i dont sort it on the hurry up , Although where the leak is from is hard to tell , a local mechanic had a quick look and said its more than likley from the back of the g/box but that would cost circa £300 to drop the lump to replace the seal , he then said its not worth the hassle as they all leak anyway & it'll still leak regardless so best to just keep a check on the levels, so my question is has anyone used any of the stop oil leak products that you simply add to your engine/box oil that seal leaks, im guessing they are similar to radweld for radiators ?? Any advise much apprieciated
cheers

they are a stop gap usage item , they will work for short while usually and then whenthey fail its far worse than before . They work by causing the seal to swell .So you end up having to replace all the seals HTSH

Are the steering box ones the same? Has anyone on here succesfully used them?

I have MOT next week, I have a very slight leak from steering box, I have cleaned it all up today, still can't see the source of the leak, but I have only had to top it up once all year so its not major.

I want to try to avoid a change of the box as I cant afford it right now, so was considering the teaspoon of brake fluid trick.

Does it ever work??

thanks
