After about 10k miles in a bit over 1 year and so far, touch wood no major problems.apart from a blown bulb, I should start fixing this dreaded oil drip.
Not loosing any amount from it but the p38 always marks his territory which is annoying.
I know it comes.from the oilfilter housing somewhere.
Replaced the cap a while ago after I been told that's the cause, and still dripping spots.

Can you selal the housing ( not the lid ) and pipes down to the engine somehow?

Don't fancy spending a fortune on new filterhousing and pipe.etc .

Its a 2.5 diesel BMW 6.cyl

Any tips greatly appreacheated.

Is it the aluminium or the plastic toped oil filter? I believe some of the o rings give a dripping problem. Perhaps a filter and o ring change using a good make will cure the problem.;)
 
The two pipes from the oil filter hosing have an ring on each where they enter the bottom of the filter. Also the pipes themselves can leak from the crimped parts. There is a risk that if the pies are to blame you may have to change the engine oil cooler as well. The pipes have a habit of taking the threads off the cooler. ;)
