Hi all,

Once again I have an oil leak on my disco. Being the novice I am can anyone tell me what the silver pipe is in the centre of this pic? It's the silver bit covered in oil just below the big rusty looking thing (didn't want to get too technical)

turbo drain pipe,are you sure oil filters not become loose and leaking

Not sure, it was services a few weeks ago so thought they would have done that then?

Is this a relatively simple job to replace? Or could I just tightened it up?

Oil filter is on the engine block to the left of and behind (from the photo viewpoint) the shiny bit to the left of the big rusty thing to use your parlance ;-)
Over the many years I've been changing mine I have yet to find a way of not spilling oil everywhere wriggling it out of its hidey hole. I think that is what JM was referring to. Should be hand tight plus 1/4 turn I think?

The oil drain pipe would seem unusual to come loose, but I guess you've had a good clean around so you can see if that is where any fresh oil is coming from? Doesn't look complicated to replace if you are happy with spanners? Good luck, A
