Do any of you know of instances where the filter housing is cracked? Its difficult to see but i seem to have a small leak somewhere underneath mine. It's definitely not the seal where the cooler pipes enter the block. Thats bone dry. Its not leaking from the top and running down either.

Filter housing to block gasket?
If the oil is higher than the two oil feed pipes then its the top cover of the filter housing and its oring or as you say a crack never heard of one cracked.mirror will help

Yes it is higher as its dripping onto the bend of both cooler pipes. 'Topographic filterr housing' ?????? whats that. I'll have to get a mirror under to say for certain

The gasket sound the most likely. TBH i didnt know the housing was a separate item and bolted on i thought the housing was cast as part of the block.

if its not that bad , do it when you have an oil change done next.
Clean it up and you should spot it leaking two bolts hold filter housing to block .

Just to chime in that I had a leak from there and I cured it by changing the gasket that defender300td1 is refering to.
