Hi all,

I have just bought my first defender, a 1988 110 station wagon with a 2.5l TD. Having just got her home i have checked the dipstick and the oil is just on the bottom of it.

This may be a very daft question, but i am young and we all need to start somewhere, but where is the oil filler cap? When standing in front of the 110, there is the brake fluid reservoir to the left, with the coolant behind that and the power steering fluid at the back. To the right is the windscreen wash. Am i being blind? But i cant see anything obvious on the engine.

Many thanks for your help,

Strewth!!!!!!! I need a lie down. :D:D

I just started with my son's 19J.

The oil filler caps was black and clogged with oil to we cleaned it
Air filter changed as it looked like an oil filter, so did all the breather pipes and the oil filler cover as well.
Oil filter changed and new engine oil filled up.

Went on to fuel filter then, Gear box oil changed.
Both diff's had oil changed.
Prop shaft joints greased.
Power steering topped up.
Coolant topped up.

Just transfer box to do on the fluids.

My first time messing with a diesel engine since I did a tractor 20 year ago.

Really enjoy ourselves and had to keep having a read of the Haynes manual.

Gunner have good fun with this Turbo diesel.
