Anyone here know why an oil cooler on a 15P engine wouldn't be 'plumbed' into the cooling system.

Just noticed on RAVE that the pipe that goes from the oil cooler around the back of the engine and from there to a port on the radiator vie a rubber hose is missing.

The outlet from the oil cooler has a rubber cap on it held in place by a proper spring clip. The port on the bottom of the radiator is also sealed up.

Is any one else's like this ??

Dealer answered - perfectly normal, the oil cooler 'return' circuit isn't used on later vehicles it was very minimal anyway, all flow now passes through cooler into cylinder block, this isn't a previous owner bodge but by design ... should have asked details of 'from when' but it is enough to know it is as it should be.

The dealer is correct.

Its a common thing to do when replacing an older radiator with a new one as they dont have the double outlets to connect all the hoses to.

I was tempted to replace the blanking host / cover whilst the car is drained down (waiting for an A/C condenser before refitting intercooler etc) .... that is until I found out the price of the blanking cover - £38 - for a piece of closed off hose no more than 40mm long ... now that is a p155 take

It sure is. Its not rocket science to make up a blocked off piece of pipe.

I replaced y radiator back in may and it hhad the 2 ports at the bottom but one is shut off. It also came with a restritor it said to fit if your previous radiator wasn't blocked.

No idea if mine should be blocked or re-stricted. 2000plate.
Currently removing the branch from the radiator. Went out to marshall a rally and came back with more damaged than those racing - not sure where I went wrong with that one.

Are we talking tree branch here by any chance ;)

If not it seems that Landrover did away with the circuit as more trouble than it was worth so it won't harm your motor to do likewise you may need a later rad though or just block up the unused ports.
