Hi,

I've purchased a range of oils with the intention of doing engine, diffs, transfer and gearbox oils.

Now I Iive on a slight incline, so previously when I've been doing engine oil changes I've parked so the sump plug is lowest, the driven to a flat road after just to double check oil levels.

But that's not quite doable with the other oils...

Guesstimating, the difference in height would be roughly a foot from the front to the back - would that make a significant difference?

Or I could jack the rear, or reverse onto some ramps ( :/ )

I'm hoping I'm not the only one in this situation?!

Cheers

Yep level up on a me stands but chock the other axle very securely before if your on an incline. And not just a brick under the wheel either lol

My drive isn't flat or level, for oil changes I use 1 metal ramp at the O/S/R corner and drive up it which levels the car up, checking then with a spirit level across the front and rear bumper (disco 2)
With the angle of the drive and useing 1 ramp it also gives better access to get underneath. Works for me, well it has to, all jobs I do have to be done on the drive what ever they are.

A few breeze blocks will make a very solid ramp you can drive onto, and cost little. Also useful for jacking up etc. etc.

Be careful with breeze blocks/bricks as they can move/slide,

If your just driving up on them then fine but don't use them as axle stands as not really safe. Just for your information...

I jacked it up and put the rear on axle stands in the end, made most sense!

Also couldn't change the gearbox oil as I didn't have a T55 bit ! Next weekend!

Also, I came across this (see picture) it does kind of look like there should be something in there!! Can anyone make sense of this?

Thanks
