i changed the oil in my 98 4ltr p38, and now it seems to leak (drip) from the genuine l r oil filter.i find a small 3" circle of oil every morning.i did it up hand tight, but can i tighten it up abit with some grips, or would it damage it?
or any other ideas?

I've had a genuine filter leak before from a poor seam on the casing where the lid is swaged to the casing...so much for genuine "Quality" !!...but firstly I would remove the filter, check the "O" ring, give it a smear of oil then retighten and see what happens. If it still leaks, fit another filter and return the dodgy one.

also check the old 'O' ring isn't still attached to the engine

You see your problem there is - the only time a land rover doesn't leak oil is when there's none in it, and now you've gone and put some back in it!

drain all the oil out again, then it will stop leaking
