Morning all, 2.5 DT was running well but irritating leak from FIP so thought I'd have a look. Realized that there was nothing much I could do, so put the manifold etc back on. Then it wouldn't start. Tested fuel solenoid - ok. Eventually got it going with a blast of easy start into the manifold, it picked up and ran but was rough with very slow throttle response. So yesterday I did static timing and it started up. Bit of adjustment and it seemed ok. Took it down the road. Throttle seemed a little slow to take effect but it was ok. Then after a couple of minutes it just cut out. After leaving it to cool and then much cranking it eventually started. Drove home for it to cut out again on the track. No amount of cranking will get it going. Towed it in and now don't know what to do. How can it just cut out like that? Fuel solenoid seems to be working ok but I've obviously upset something...

PS I've got a Nanocom but have a bit of difficulty really knowing how to use it other than to check modulation. It doesn't show any errors in ECU

Why will it run okay and then just cut out? That is my question.
Should I bleed off all the injector pipes? Do they not bleed themselves once running via spill off pipes?

did you adjust the top part of the pump at all ? being about 1mm out is enough for it to not rev or start , also had a similar case with fuse box causing a similar issue with mine would run then stutter and die until it had cooled down

@Datatek correct me if im wrong but i think the fip timing defaults to a static setting if the lift sesnor fails, so should still run etc and would also show a mil light , but certainly would be worth checking

When you set the static the final motion must be towards the engine(no wobbling or bouncing as you tap it) or you get backlash in the pump.
Is usual to bleed the FIP then also crack the injectors, so could be big gulp of air. That’s easiest so I’d start there.

It's going! :) Started after much cranking this morning, running rough. Slackened FIP and tap, tapped until it sounded better. (Yes, last tap back towards engine!) Modulation at 80% 'tho, which is not ideal... injection actual and set within .5. Stopped and started up again okay. I then changed fuel filter just in case. Now to take it down the road:eek: with Nanocom plugged in it might show a fault if it cuts out again.
Thanks for all comments and help

Need to get the modulation to 50% with the engine at 95C
