First things first.....110 Td5 Defender XS first registered in 2004 which was bought in May this year to replace our 1991 200tdi 110 Defender. Nothing wrong with the 200tdi which was our first and was reliable (no really it was - certainly more reliable than any other 21 year old vehicle with 160,000 miles experience). Of course she had some idiosyncrasies and some amateur electrics but in terms of starting and keeping going and not demanding too much time or money she was reliable.
However as my wife's daily car and increasingly being the vehicle the family excursions were taken in we thought something a little more refined would suit our needs better.
Only time will tell if we have made the right decision ... But so far the td5 is proving to be ok. My boy racer of a wife also loves the aftermarket intercooler which was already fitted when we bought her and especially loves the fact I can now hear her when we are driving.
My mechanical skills are limited but the help from reading old threads on here has saved me £££££s over the last couple of years and some of the experienced I have gained might be of use to others if I spot that they are having issues that I have encountered!
