Hi guys,

I have a place booked on the off road course at the LRM show in Warwickshire this August. I have zero off road experience and my FL2 is new so I don't want to get stuck and break it lol!

Anyone been to the LRM show before and know how demanding the course is? I have now idea how good the FL2 is off road. Perhaps some FL2 owners can tell me what its capable of in the rough stuff.

Cheers

lrm will have a course suitable for a fl.Doors might fall off if it gets wet though.

Hi there, I have not done the off road course at Stoneliegh but if it is anything like at other venues there will be a hard and easy route. The Freelander 2 has all the technolgy to keep it going off road. It is only really hampered by the lack of ground clearance. If it is an auto then even better, if it is a manual then the anti stall should keep it running when going slowly in first gear. I plan to be there, if you want have a ride around with me and you can see for yourself. Please don't feel pressured to damage your car just because the more modified ones amongst us are going for it. Yeehaa. Trust your car and it should keep you out of trouble. I will pm you my number.

Cheers

I went to the Land Rover show in Bath last month. I hoped to take my Freelander 1 around the course but after observing the track, it was clear that it had nowhere near enough ground clearance. In the end, I paid for a ride in one of their own Disco's and the driver said that the Freelander would just bottom out. He also said that nobody had been around the course in a Freelander, let alone a FL2.

That said, I would have tried it if it hadn't of been for the fact that there was a large crowd of people watching. No doubt me and my gaylander would end up being laughed at on just about every Land Rover forum had I risked it.
