I live in Exmouth Devon and cannot find anywhere to go off roading the only place I can find is one at holden hill but it appears this is now closed.

Does anyone know of any good off road sites?

Try this:

Off Road Zone : 4x4 Track by Trago Mills, Newton Abbot, Devon

Never been there, but another club I'm a member of off is having an off road day down there in a few weeks time.

I've turned up at the off road zone twice on a Sunday. I checked their website and it said to come along on a Sunday at 10am, which I did, only to find that it was closed! What a waste of £40. Apparently it's closed permanently during the summer months, but the website didn't mention this.

The site is poorly secured when closed though.

Don't quite get your point!!

I'm not sure how you can of wasted £40 if the site was closed and surely a phone call before attending to check the availability of the site would have gone down well as I know the site is regularly booked out for use by various clubs for off road days and events etc.

Also the rates we have agreed are a lot less than £40 for the day......

Petrol/Diesel cost travelling there to find it closed?

Obviously I had to put fuel in my Landy to get there... Their website states that people should only ring after 6pm. That wasn't an option considering I decided to go on Sunday morning. Sure, I could have contacted them the previous night but that's not the point. If their website suggests or implies that they're open for business, then that's what you should expect when you get there. The first time it happened I wasn't bothered too much by it, I just assumed that the owner/organiser had to attend other matters or something. The second time (August 2010) I was annoyed when I got there only to find that there was a notice in the window that said "Closed until October". They could have updated their website to let people know out of courtesy.

I've emailed them twice in the past and never received a response either. Unfortunately I am partially deaf so I tend to avoid contacting people by phone unless it's absolutely necessary.

I get the impression that he might have showed some interest if I said there were 10 vehicles going, instead of just one. I guess I'm just not happy with the service (or lack of!) and decided not to bother with them again.
