Hey guys,

well I figure I may be the furthest away from birthplace LR owner on the planet!

20 odd thousand k away @ the bottom of NZ in a town called Invercargill!

I have just purchased my 95' face-lift ES Tdi discovery in the last month or so and it has just completed its first long haul trip returning 8.1L/100K - this was done through mountainous terrain on metal roads.

All in all I am very happy with the purchase with only a couple of hopefully small issues raising their head! - but I will leave that for the disco forum...

hopefully some pics of its recent outing...

looks tidy, nice scenery! Any less rust issues out there than over here, or do moist winters and gritted roads still run riot? Oh and welcome!

I never ventured as far south as invacargill when I was there last, mabie next time :) I never saw a 300tdi disco either :p although I only saw about 10 landys in total :)

Welcome :) and lets hope it's reliable :)

Thanks guys,

surprisingly there doesn't appear to be any rust issues - not in this one anyhow - where I live we don't use the salt to grit the roads (they use a small/fine metal/rock based grit), and I must admit that I was surprised to see that they do in Britain/Europe while I was there last year!

Invercargill is kind of like the central "HUB" for tourism to Fiordland, the Catlins and Stewart Island - for those that choose to see it from a real perspective, ie tramping/hunting/fishing/4wheeling etc - not from a tourist bus that is common from places like Queenstown etc - within an hr or so from me I have all of that at my disposal!

It's remote beauty down there, I'd have loved to have gone but I had so much to travel and work in the 8 months I was there I never made it. Definitely for 4 wheeling though :)

I loved queens town although I am 20 so it's kinda the right age group for me :D I'm considering south land for later this year, or caturbury again or north island or Aus open options :)

Is it ex jap like every other vehicle ?
