Hey folks :)

Got a slight issue with my 2002 TD4 Freelander.
Last week, she refused to start. No clicking when you turned the key. Alternator, battery and starter motor have been replaced in January this year (2013), and as of last week the ignition celluoid in the steering column has been replaced. Today, same fault that caused the ignition celluoid to be replaced. Nothing when you turn the key, no lights dimming, no clicking, but windows will open / close etc.

Does anyone have any bright ideas please? It's the only car we have and I'm the chauffeur, so I need the car to work and be reliable.

Hello,
I have similar problem with my freelander 1 . Turning the key, wait for glowplug & engine check lights to go out, turn key to start, nothing, not even a click.
Release key back position ii & then to iii again, after doing this up to 8 times it fires up easily.
I got a spare key cut but have no remote fob for it, it unlocks the door & operates the ignition but dosn't start without a fob. Maybe doing this has disturbed the immobiliser?

Could be the switch on the rear of the ignition.
