Hi all new on this, I have a question, my mechanic removed my auto box on my 4.0 p38. It was to fix real crank seal that was leaking badly. He replaced the box back in situ. Long story shorter!!! It’s not selecting gears. The selector in the cab isn’t very tight, seems sloppy. It reversed after job and drove back in but next day it won’t select gears. Can anyone shed ideas or light on the problem.

Welcome aboard the SS landyzone for naked wine producing with Landrovers.
Would be worth asking on the range rover section for a better answer.
What was the condition of the autobox oil did they replace it and if so how much.

Oil not replaced ! Was thinking of having one of them mobile flushing guys out to do the box ? Not sure
If you do change the oil make sure a fresh filter added also. Normally the colour cherry red any duller or brown it's past it usefulness.

An update , my drugged up mechanic who did a weld on my exhaust didn’t disconnect my battery leads!(long story) but I was told by the guy in the unit next to where he was based! (Now kicked out)
So I plugged it in to diagnostic tool and I got this wiring regulator control selonoid!!! Is this the box under the passenger’s seat??? PCM ????

Sounds like yo have a few dodgey mech around you.

Am sure many will say the guy that replaced the box screwed up locating the TQ. and the welder needs a couple of jump leads connecting to some delicate parts of his body:D.
