Back during the summer I fitted a new centre and rear exhaust section to my 300tdi.
The studs in the flange by the cat. were rusty and snapped off meaning I couldn't secure the middle section to the front section in the proper way so I bodged a clamp together by cutting the flange off of the old exhaust, spitting it in two, and then bolting these through to the flange on the new middle section.
Six months on the exhaust isn't leaking, nor does my bodge show any signs of having loosened. It doesn't look pretty though.
Is this an automatic exhaust fail because it isn't a proper part or so long as the exhaust isn't leaking they've got to pass it?
