Alright guys wee bit of advice needed

So my L320 (facelift) need to replace my old compressor as getting "standard height" and "reserve not filled in time" messages. I have the original Hitachi type so want to replace it with new AMK type at suggestion of my LR garage. Finances just cannot really stretch to the normal LR one even throught would not normally even think of anything else but it also need belts done so willing to fit a ebay/amazon one to get me by just now and allow me to get through MOT in month or so. I know this is a bit of a crapshoot but anyone experience of one that will even get me through for a while. I will be getting the garage to fit it while in for belts and get old one back to see if can refurb it and then maybe put back in when cheapo fails. Also just want to check would I just need the compressor or would I need some sort of kit, I do know that software will need updated by my LR garage will do that when fitting

So just wondering if anyone has a cheapo that has worked and the supplier they used. Not holding anyone to it just wanted a wee point in right direction would be good if not will prob just pick something.

Cheers guys

If you do as per your plan the old 1 being refurbed will not go back in as it would again need the software changed. I also remember vaguely that some plumbing connections need changing which again may make a swap back not possible. (not sure though).

Stick with the Hitachi 1 and then you will just be able to swap as you say.
I rebuilt ours in an afternoon, so why not get it out when it goes in for the belts and take it home and refurb it then take it back to refit.

I have no experience of the cheap 1s.

Hi mate stick with original fitted it's just plug, and play you could buy a second-hand unit fit it yourself I have started buying quite a bit of stuff from maltings, LR centre etc evilbay not always cheapest, try to go oem with belts, idlers, tensioners if you can

Sorry to say - but of course the LR garage will advise fitting a new AMK compressor - they will then also charge you to programme it to your car etc .
Stick with the Hitachi.
I am just about to replace my failing Hitachi with a new hitachi or hitachi style one and will rebuild the old one as a spare. Lots of good prices out there.
