Yesterday I did I Forte oil flush with my oil change on my 2.5 to try and quieten down my hydraulic lifters (or at least that's what I think is causing my tappet sound) with no success,it's fair to say I probably made it a little worse.
When I first start in the morning I hear this tappet sound if I rev over 2,500 rpm and my engine isn't up to full temp, anything below these revs the engine sounds fine, sometimes even when the engine is hot I get this sound but nowhere near as loud as when it's cold.
The sound is certainly coming from the top end of the engine so I wondered if it could be anything else or any other way of quieting it down with an additive with a good reputation for solving this problem?
I want to avoid reconditioning the head but I'm worried this problem will get worse to the point that it's constant, thanks.
