Hi All
I Am New To Land Rovers And Have Just Purchased A 1965 Series 11a. The Test Drive Was At Slowish Speeds And The Gearbox Sounded Fine As It Does When Its Under Load. However When You Ease Of The Throttle A Loud Whine/rumble Comes From The Box For A Few Seconds Only. Im A Engineer By Trade And Have A Fully Equipped Workshop, Would I Be Able To Repair This Fault Or Should I Source Another Gearbox. I Would Be Gratefull For Any Advice On This Fault.
Kind Regards
Dick

You're new to the site as well, try posting on the series bit next one down.
Hello.

Oil is a cheap mechanic! ---I was always told Check levels in main and transfer box. If not that possibly bearings or general wear and tear.If you intend keeping it go to LEGS website they do diy kits and refurb gearboxes for all land rovers. ----BB
