As I am asking questions and will be having a tinker soon, after taking the car to the UK and doing some motorway miles with the family would a better spec have been quieter insdie at motorwya cruising speeds? And either way is it possible to add extra sound deadening? What and where?

Thanks

I have the poverty spec 2.5 DT, it is very quiet cruising on the motorway at anything up to 80mph. Possibly one of the most quiet and comfortable cars I have had for m'way cruising in fact. Can you describe the noise, perhaps there is something wrong? I would guess that tyre choice could be a significant factor wrt noise, if you are running some serious off road/dual purpose tyres, then they could be the problem.....

If wind roar, perhaps one of the teeth has broken off one of the window winder mechanisms, and the window is not staying all the way up?

Cheers,

Jerry

Hi

i take my 97 DSE to France very often and the noise level is very low only ever do about 70 max as i cant afford the diesel above that speed and like to enjoy my journey in peace and quite.

my car runs on 19 and 22 wheels not at the same time but the noise level on either is very low.

i may sell the 19" wheels with very good tryes if you need some better ones please send me a pm.

Will be in touch Jerseybean.... The noise is just generall engine/road noise, noiser than my old 940 volvo and lots noisier than her 97 c200. No real issues as I was thrashing it........Just wonderded if there was a simple way of adding some extra sound deading really. Not up on tyres but the tyre fitted have plenty of tread and short of look chunky van/small truck tyres rather than smooth road tyres. Windows seem to shut ok.

Thanks for the thoughts.

Have you considered wind deflectors on the front windows? Might help.

As others have said, tyres make a big difference too - the Insa Turbo Dakar's on my mates Discovery honestly sound like a plane taking off!!
