When I start the engine, I can hear behind the engine noise a sound that I can only describe as something closing/opening or it may be relays or something springing into life but it seems too loud for that unless they do it on mass. Its certainly a shurlunk noise and never makes it again, only when she starts.

I know my descriptive sounds may not be close to the real noise but I am hoping that as it only happens when she starts that someone may be able to put two and two together and know what it may be and whether I should be concerned.

Thanks, Matt

touch the brake pedal and if u feel a vibration in it related to the noise u described then it's the ABS self test sound and dont bother with it

A lot of cars do this , all the solonoids/motors that opperate varous parts on the engine shuttle, some do it when the engine is switched off but this has caused alarm for some drivers who think there engine is alive and trying to get out from under the bonnet, so most manufacturers now do it on start up so the noise is muffled by the engine.
