anyone got any ideas why my 1972 series 3 SWB safari has no trailer lights or left hand indicator? Right indicator and brakes are fine, light board is fully working -I have checked and reconnected the wiring in the socket but still nothing? Hoping there might be something obvious rather than a wiring falure somewhere underneath, cheers.

get a volt meter and check that there are no breakages in the circuit. if there are find out where they are and then replace necessary parts.

cheers for this info -I will get hold of a volt meter and test each circuit -hope its the earth at the socket end! -where will it connect up if its the engine end?

Hi,

Can you clarify the question, please?

I think you are saying that you have NO trailer lights.

AND

You are saying that your L/H indicator isn't working. But is that the Landy indicator or the trailer indicator? And does THIS problem only occur when you connect the trailer plug?

You say your light board works. Do you mean you have a light board (as well) which works, but the lights FITTED to your trailer don't?

Find a mate with a tow ball, and plug your trailer into his socket. That will tell you if the fault is on the Landy or the trailer.
