hi all ive spent the last few hour with a meter trying to sus out why i seemed to have lost power and display to the radio and hevac area of my P38.

hence i need some help!!!

a does any one have a wiring diagram for a uk model 1996 4.6 hse?
b. any ideas on what it may be? has any one else had the same problems?

all i did was stop turn the radio off and when i came back dead! no radio although the back lights come on with the lights hevac back display brightens but no screen. and all the buttons in this general area do not function. it has done this once before months ago and all i did was pull the 12v cigerette plug out wiggle and it seemed to come back after a bit more wiggling hence why i thought it may be a loose wire. stripped out this area gear selector and taken radio out all seemed ok.

thanks and regards
marc

well the fuse looked ok swapped it any how there is close on 12v there as well so i think its ok up to this point.

hmmm, do you have a copy of RAVE?? You really want to have a look at the ETM (electronic troubleshooting manual) and go from there.

Did you check all the earthing wires etc??

Use something like ISO Buster to read the ISO file and extract the required files.

Had the same problem myself Marc.
Turned out that a garage left a screw sitting in the cigar lighter socket. Shorted out the HEVAC and radio and every time I replaced fuse 8, it would blow again.
I would say it is more than likely a short issue in the cigar light socket but you said you stripped it out and checked it.
Removing the screw sorted mine....hope yours turns out to be so easy.
