Hello, Im new here, I wondered if anyone could help?

I have a freelander 1 2.0 td4, drove home from work and parked up as normal last night no problem. Went out this morning, started the car and as I tried to pull away I noticed there was no power steering? ‍♀️ Then noticed the battery light wasn’t going off. From what I can see the belt is still in tact, but I have no idea why it’s happened or what’s causing it. That said I did hit a big puddle on the way home, but that’s something I’ve done numerous times? If anyone can share any ideas that’d be great!

It's obviously an auxiliary drive belt issue, either it's slipping, or the crank pulley has failed, stopping the belt from rotating.

Have you looked to see if the belt is moving while the engine is running? Don't put your hands near it with the engine running though.

The belt you can see might be the air con belt and the aux belt is lying in the road somewhere

I've just gone out to check the belt I can see is moving, but now the car won't start, like the battery has gone flat. Its now on charge so will check again later
