Old friend just gave me a box with some unused Land Rover (supposedly Discovery) parts and bits and bobs. Recognised all except this (fibre gasket)? Does anyone know where this is from (I have a 2003 D2a Td5 with a 16P engine):

Google out ERR7155 , it's for the oil separator, part of the crankcase emission control and it's good to have it in good condition to achieve the following:
"An oil separator plate is included in the camshaft cover which removes the heavy particles of oil before the crankcase
gas leaves via the camshaft cover port. The rocker cover features circular chambers which promote swirl in the oil
mist emanating from the cylinder head and camshaft carrier. As the mist passes through the series of chambers
between the rocker cover and oil separator plate, oil particles are thrown against the separator walls where they
condense and fall back into the cylinder head via two air inlet holes located at each end of the rocker cover."

Amazing - never even knew this existed! So, it's contained within the camshaft/rocker cover? I just thought it might be from another vehicle! He did say D2/Td5 unused bits and bobs. Learn something every day - ERR7155!

Just Googled ERR7155 - says for: "Discovery 2 Td5 to vin 1A736339" My D2/Td5 engine no. is 3A797282 - so I guess I don't have one of these gaskets in the rocker cover?

It's possible that LR considered it futile but it's also possible that they included that VIN at a time and remained the same not being superseded... you'll see only when you remove the cover for some reason and if there is one then replace it

here they didnt include the VIN https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/err7155-gasket-oil-separator.html

Yes, clearly shown on the diagram in that link! Might be able to use it after all! Will see in a week or so - just waiting on my HG and bolts to arrive.
