got a problem with my headlights, checked all fuses and relays and all work, bypassed the stalk and still nothing, i have sidelights and hi beam flash but no dipped or main??? ideas chaps?

Well, I'd start at the lights themselves with my meter or my circuit tester and work my way back towards the switch to see how far the juice is getting. The fact that they'll still flash suggests that it might be a switch problem, but you say you've tried that.

I was going to suggest something similar to the above but you've got a td5 don't you? I'm not sure if they're any different or not, what with their leccy wizardry

No, the lights are just switches and wires like on earlier models. The circuit boards just cover engine management and ABS (if fitted). So it's going to be something you can find with a meter and a circuit tester I'd expect.

checked for power at the plug for the lamp itself and no power there, just very odd how they just stopped

The symptoms sound just right for the dreaded regular burnt out stalk switch.....but you say you've checked that? Hmmm. Good luck, hope someone comes up with better ideas. A

Are the cables actually attached to the switch?

I only ask 'cos guess what happened to me Monday?

No side or tail lamps - dipped & full beam = OK.

Turned out that some PO had made a mess of soldering on the switch & the red cable had broken off and was flopping loose.

So I re-made up all three just to be sure. Worked 1st time! Smug face now.:)

right traced the problem to no power to the pink relay which i believe is fed from the red cable from the stalk, where does this cable change from red to red and green?

right scrap that its the blue wire, traced that from the switch to the relay and i have 12v at the relay

Does the relay make the "tock" sound when the dipped lights turned on?
Tried re-seating the relay?
