When I turn the key on me 109 there is no sign of life..I don't know much about electrics at all, can anyone help?!

When it first happened last week I noticed the main alternator wire had melted to the other two and all were shorting on the engine block, so I have replaced it. But there is still no sign of life.

The battery is charged up and connected properly, the lights & the heater come on but there is nothing ignition wise.

Anyone point me in the right direction of where to start? Could the alternator be damaged? thanks in advance..

No clicks, no nothing? Have you checked the fuses? Melted wires & shorting must've blown something. Do you know what caused the wires to melt?

No clicks - nothing. Checked the fuses and they are all fine. Not sure why the wires melted either. It's weird cos the lights & heater are fine.

have you got ignition lights, you could have shagged the magical innards of the alternator

1. Get a meter with a beeper
2. disconnect the bat
3. start checking contiunity.
I would start at the Ignition switch does it have a supply (Ignition switch to +ve on Bat) aned then work your way through to the Coil.

No ignition lights, no nowt. I'll get a meter tomorrow! Cheers for the help.
