my 300tdi will not move forward or backward.i can put it in gear while the engine is running without using the clutch there is no grinding noise or any other its not jumping out of gear i can select all 5 gears and reverse diff lock not makin any diffrence diff lock light on dash is lighting any1 here had this or got any ideas is there any checks i should do i have checked hydraulics down to slave cylinder can see its workin any help appreciated cheers chris

I doubt I know anything more than you do, but if it's a manual - could the clutch cable have snapped? Would explain why there's no need to use the clutch to get into gear/no grinding noises?
From what I've read you can check underneath the Disco and have a visual check.

only if the oil drained out of the cable
knowing it'd be pitch black, and that i'd be in a right hurry (from over sleeping) when i got into it me dad once put 4 stands under the axles of a 90 i used to have, raising it so the wheels were just in contact with the ground

Don't stop learning as soon as you finish school eh! So IF they had clutch cables, and it snapped... would it be those symptoms?
