I have a Freelander 2.0 TD4 2002, after i reach about 20 mph and try and accelerate there is no response, (its like as if its been held back) the car will build up speed slowly eventually but going up hills is a nightmare and definately no overtaking!!! I did notice a couple of days ago that the TC light came on (amber) and the HDC light came on (amber) but not flashing but after turning the engine off they have not reappeared, any ideas anybody? Thanks.

PS. i only use the car on the highway, no offroading! :)

I had a very similar problem with my 2001 2.0 TD4. Garage replaced spark plugs and the problem was resolved. I don't know enough about engines to know what effect this had though...

Get it to the Stealer Computer and get a fault code. I had similar problems and it was the fuel pump. Have a search on here for similar descriptions and see how they compare with yours, most end up as fuel pump failure.

You are right, you don't know much about engines, diesels don't have spark plugs :doh:, get back to that garage and ask them to show you the old spark plugs :(

Thats great lads, I'm a TD4 driver and I also didn't know they do not have spark plugs... One to never forget!:D

Stealer Computer

Its a Land Rover Main Dealers computer, nicknamed because of their prices. its worth paying the price as some non LR computers dont give all the codes.
