I'll proberbly get slated for this but I'm wanting to wire up my 2 halogen spots and four roof bar lights to my high beam ,can I do it through one relay ,does anyone have a wireing diagram
Anyway you need to give us some more info:
How many spots (ah just read it again 6 )
Wattage of lamps in spots
I take it that the spots and roof lights are already wired in with their own relays??
If so you can operate both relays using a feed from the high beam circuit
Where in the road lighting regulations does it say that?
As far as i understand it you can have as many main beam lights as you like as long as they extinguish when you dip your lights.
Seems nobody can find any reference in regs for position or wattage of optional headlights.
Having said that 100w bulbs are sold as 'not for UK road use' but the regs seem to state that they can be anywhere so long as they operate through the dip switch and have an illuminated light to warn when they are on
Ive read it too somewhere? But cannot find anything in the regs regarding position or wattage?
Thats why I questioned it.
I almost dazzled a copper going round some pretty badly flooded country lanes the other week stopped for a chat as he wanted to know how bad it was where id just came from. Never said anything to me about using mine.
When i asked my MOT tester he looked it up and it just said they had to be equal distance and height but didn`t specify what the height was. as far as he was concerned my roof lights switched with main beam were perfectly legal.
depends how much the switch can cope with and were your taking the feed from, relay is used so you can use lesser rated switch and wiring in the dash etc with main feed for light taken from a decent battery lead ,starter ,etc
