It looks older than 1951 though I can't remember exactly when they changed them, it has the early back body and seats. Latter 80" had a recess for the seat backs and squarer seat backs that were hinged. Also it has narrow front springs with the shackels at the front. Looks like it has the latter type gearbox with selectable 4 wheel drive and not the ring pull job though. Might be one of the last 1.6 ltr's
Will make a nice project for someone.

Haha look at the door catch, I had a few scary moments with mine !!! hit a bump and the door pops open.

shame it's not original, that'll significantly decrease it's value :(

Its is lovely! Bet it goes for a few quid. I know these are tax exempt, are they mot exempt too?

Yes. Everything before 1960 if I remember right but have to fill out a form.

Might be worth a google if yet worried about exact dates don't take my word

My mate has a 58 and is thinking of selling, he has three on the go at the moment ant it's taken two years to do the first and its not finished yet.

Was talking about it today, it is stripped to bare chassis so all the hard work done, needs a bit of welding to chassis and then rebuilding, we were trying to estimate what it was worth as is:)

Lovely, quite a few popping up lately, prefer something like yours though, I'm not one for keeping things standard:)

On that note, looks real good from front and side, not so good from the back though :/ and terrible interior!

However I'm very tempted to paint mine in the same colour but cheers ;) I do like the subtle engine mod on mine too :D and the patina
