Hi to all,

Never owned a landy before, but always fancied one. Went for a ride in a friends 90 td5, bounced around a bit, noisy, hey I was hooked.

I want to buy a 90, but dont know which one to go for. I will use it daily to and from the buiding site occasionally and weekends off roading. I just want to know my options. I'll probably be looking to spend £2000, I dont expect a lot for this, but I expect i'll put more than that in eventually - I like to personalise my vehicles rather than buy £15k on an already done in factory type.

What should I look for when buying? What are the gremlins, if any? Any info would be welcomed,

Welcome to the playpen, Madfrog :)

Suggest you place a question in the Defender bit of the forum for some specific advice. Just remember that they're not like "normal" cars, i.e. crappy wipers, non-existent heating, draughty doors etc etc, but hey-that's why we love Land Rovers!
For a couple of grand you could pick up a fairly tatty LR that might cost you an arm and a leg just getting it running, or you might stumble across a good'un - keep your eyes peeled and take someone with you (like Slob's mechanic) if you're not very good with mechanical stuff.
You could go for an ex-military 90: for £2000 you'll get a scruffy (dented) example but the chances are the chassis and running gear will be well-looked-after.

Hi Everyone,
Been a while but we've got the Landy registered now and we've been taking guests all over the place: here are a few photos.
Does anyone know a good place to advertise our guest house to Land Rover owners? It's only about £60 return to fly to Krakow and then we drive people in the Land Rover (or let them drive it) so it's a good holiday but I need to let people know about us.

Cold? Well, it's been minus 26 during the day - minus 35 at night - for a couple of days but otherwise it's between minus 14 and 0. It's a dry cold so the only bits that really feel the cold are your nose hairs which freeze up anyway cos they tend to be a bit damp, but it;s a nice feeling as they crackle around up there.
Excellent snow and the slopes are really cheap - if you really are coming over, let us know when. The website has all the info and we;'ve got rooms available from the 6th to the 15th March. We can deal with up to 11 people so bring a crew.

If you look at the pics of mine i bought this lr for £1500 you can find a bargain if you look hard enough!
 
It'd cost you in fuel, and you'd better bring sandwiches cos the German service stations cost a bomb. You go to Brussels, then get onto the E4 which you follow to Krakow, then you tuen south down towards Zakopane, about 68km then take a right and a left, straight on over the level crossing, 5kn into Raba Wyzna and we're to the left up the first tarmaked road in the village. Can't miss it!
Takes 18 to 26 hours.
 
By the way, we've got no lights tonight. It's an ex- Army vehicle so uses 24 volts and the mechanic hasn't got the standard switch in stock. Can we use any switch? Surely it's the amps that matter in the switch, not the voltage??
