New to the site, which looks very informative and new to Land Rover! Had my father in laws 2005 Freelander TD4 since January this year and slowly finding my feet with it!

Welcome,
I've had 2 freelanders with no problems. The only problem yours may have is with the drive train, seized VCU leading to IRD failure. If you wish to avoid this, remove the propshaft and accept it as a capable 2 wd.
