Im a Newbie looking for my first Land Rover, I really like the idea of picking up a Series 3 SWB, but im curious about the hard tops, are they all removable or are there different models?

Thanks

Andy

Hello Andy, and welcome.
Yep - all hardtops just unbolt. You can then (if'n you want) fit a set of hoops and canvas hoodset, or just run around topless!
Done it meself this year (Station Wagon/ Safari roof) - been topless since early June and lovin every minute!

Yep, I went from hardtop to canvas and I don't regret the change over even in the winter.

Regards WP.

In fact a decent fitting soft-top is warmer in the winter than an un-lined hard-top., of course the same thing can't be said for a soft-top which is split and/or doesn't fit around the edges. Add a fume curtain and you might even be too hot (I kid you not)!
Having had hard-tops up until about 1993, I then changed over to soft-tops and haven't looked back since.

Everything on a Landy is removable

Yes, man you say right word's

"You need good will to do, few key's and one friend to help you to remove hard top down..., If not done long time before - prepare lot of WD 40, spray nuts day before - AND YOU WILL FINISH in ONE HOUR"

Please stop when you take top off - if you continue in ONE HOUR MORE you will come on the LEVEL of CHASIS only :D :D :D

As Ed said "Everything on a Landy is removable" it's just a question of time.

But just a couple of things to remember.

1. You have to store the lid or dispose of it. I keep mine to put back on
in winter, too cold for me without.
(Yes i don't have a rag top yet)

2. You may need to think about replacing your seat belts
(different anchor points if you take it all off).

3. You will get a wet bum if you don't cover it up when parked.

But Ho-Hum it all add's to the fun.
:)
