Hi... well I should have joined a few years ago when I bought my 99 D2 TD5, but here we are!

The head gasket blew a couple of years ago, so clearly I had no choice but to fully strip and rebuild the whole engine, along with most ancilliaries! I'm touched with ocd so the rebuild included vapour blasting most parts, , mostly new fastners and many other parts, paint and that kind of unnecessary time consuming unjustifiable expense and time:D! I had it running last year, which was hugely stressful (I'm not mechanic) but after addressing a few leaks all was well. I know the turbo will need adjusting, one or two of the glow plug wiring is a bit shabby so stuff like that still ahead of me.

I paid a pro welder to spend all the time he needed to sort under the front arches, both seals and rear sub-frame. I've undersealed the lot. I've rebuilt all the bit n bobs under both front arches incl. new calipers, new discs, new bearing hubs, new abs sensors etc... Today I've repaired damage on the bottom of both wings where they are bolted to the lower mount bracket - the damage meant they couldn't be bolted to the body. Once they're secured I'll attach the inner arches (already reparined those and bought stainless self tappers etc...!), put the wheels back on - already checked and double-checked all nuts & bolts with a torque wrench!
That leaves refitting the front bumper, replacing both rear brake calipers and then fettling ready for the MOT.

The only pics I dont like and the youtube vids of people restoring their cars....is the ones of the super organised uncluttered garages with everything in it's place...lol
In my head the garage is the epitomy of organisation, makes F1 garages look like Lidl during a Virus panic. Then there's the reality...
