Hi There, Monkey Hanger here from Hartlepool (obviously).
After many years of owning and driving all sorts of "wanabee" 4x4's, (Shoguns, Pajeros, Challengers and Volvo AWD's) I've finally bought the "real deal" - a beautiful dark green 1996 P38 4.0 with multi-point LPG conversion, updated lights, heavy tints all round, 12 months MOT etc.
I was advised not to get one older than an 'S', but all the later ones were very disappointing to drive and I'd just about given up hope of finding a decent one when I spotted this one on eBay. Only 116k miles, fairly good condition in and out, HUGE gas tank in the spare wheel well (looks about 90 litres?), drives great on and, more importantly OFF road.
Everything seems to work fine, despite the intermittent appearance of various warning messages on the dash. The most popular one says "FUSE 2 MISSING" And "AIR BAG FAULT" but, having had a Volvo XC70 for the past 2 years, I'm quite used to bogus warnings.
I'll be having a real good look at it whilst I'm giving it a proper "pensioner clean" (the highest available) tomorrow, so expect a few more queries.
