Hi guys,

I've just purchased a hunter green 2001 plate 1.8ES and have a couple of questions. I know it has the K for Kettle engine but it was a good price, well spec'd and clean. Anyway

1. The clutch has a low biting point. Some one mentioned at a local garage about an upgrade bit that might help. Any ideas as i kinda wasn't fully listening as they were taking the **** about my purchase ?

2. Its the first 4x4 I've owned but I think it has a bit of a whine when driving at more than say 40-50. Is this wheel bearings or something worse?

3. I have the chance of another car with a knackered engine. Is it worth taking bits for spare. Is the diff, VCD (or whatever its called) transfer box easy enough to remove and would i need a ramp. what else do you suggest i take?

cheers Martyn

hi martin, welcome to lz i think your colour could well be called epsom green, clutch sounds worn , if you can engage gears ok and it doesnt slip then id not worry to much.the whine sounds like it could be the rear diff, seems common on fl1 , will go on for ages like it if i were you id get the spare one you will need it one day good luck tim

thanks Tim,

hi and welcome

looks in reali gud condition......hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine. Well except the high maintenance elements

Yeah, i'm expecting some costs LOL but hey its all part of the experience!!!
I think I may have a VSC away as its a bit tight feeling when trying to park into spaces and has a cluck when turning over bumpy ground (suspect diff bearings or ball joints). I think spare car could come in handy so need to get on case.
