Hi,

Could someone advise me please?

I'm looking at getting some new tyres and have read a few reviews on these:

Tyre Nexen N'Fera RU1 235/55 R17 99V - Tyre Leader

Would these suit the vehicle? Currently they have 225/55/17 and all the tyre companies when i put in the reg says 225's but reading the forum on here apparently 235/55 is the tyre to go for, is that correct?

You are better off spending more and getting something better quality. I won't buy budget tyres as often they simply don't last. The standard size was 225 55 17 the Pirelli Scorpion being the factory make supplied. You will struggle to better those tbh. It's better to fit the OE size and make over a wider budget tyre

While cheap at the moment I don't think they will be value for money long term when you look at wear and braking ability.

Thanks for the advice. Is it the pirelli scorpion Verde? There are a few different scorpion lines. Would the Michelin Lattitude Cross be worth a look? I do maybe 6000 miles a year, mostly road and type 1 track to house which is about 300metres. I also have a 4.7m rib that i will be towing, which is travelling less than a mile maybe 4 times per year.

Most on ere have the STR if going for Pirelli Scorpion, as below. Not sure about availability of size to fit your wheels. Mine were £576 for 5 about 20 months ago.

I was after a pair of STR's in 225/55r17 for the wifes car but they don't do that size anymore, only 235/55 in 17".
Got a set of Michelin Latitude Cross in the end.

I've ran cheap tyres before and find they are not too bad...they are usually a softer compound so don't last as long some are very noisy depending on tread pattern. I usually get around 20k max out of them...but on the plus side I find they have more grip than premium tyres...[emoji106] I currently have some linglongs [emoji33] on the front of a V6 golf and all I can say is the grip is great In wet and dry.

Can't remember what I had on the hippo but I only got 15k out of them before the tread wore away....rears were not to bad.

I've had premium toyo proxies that have lasted years it was the side walls that perished before the grip wore out.

Thanks for your help. I decided to go with Michelin Latitude Cross 225/55/17 4 tyres for 360 delivered.

Tires on my R R are 275/40/R20 and I can't find anything for less than $500 each!!! The winter months require another set plus rims the icy conditions here can be 6 inches thick because of lack of removal! So a winter tire is 700$ X 4 because of studding with ice picks!!!
